Here are some links to sites and vendors that I have come to know, use, and respect for the quality of their information and/or their products.  I am only linking to vendors whose products I have bought, used, and found to be topnotch value for the price.  As a full-time kilt-wearer I do require this balance, because I wear things out (in more ways than one).

Oconee Leather Works  sells some of the finest leathers on the kilt market. OLW uses top quality bridle leather to create attractive, functional accessories. Customer service is outstanding

X-Marks The Scot  is a community of kilt-wearers and those who support the wearing of the kilt. It consist of over 2500 members all over the world, plenty of whom are non-Scottish. X-Marks is family friendly and has well-moderated boards. The forum rules are designed to allow ANYONE to participate without concern for tender sensibilities. There is a vast wealth of knowledge and experience about all aspects of kilting, and more, including amateur and professional kiltmakers, knife makers, and, of course, sporran makers.

Thorfinn Custom Sporrans partners with KiltsRock.com.  KiltsRock includes The Brotherhood of the Kilt, another kilt-oriented forum with a wide-ranging membership and wider ranging topics of discussion. The forum rules about allowable topics and content are more relaxed than at X-Marks, but the members (men and women) are truly a brotherhood and although topics can be passionately (or hilariously) discussed, civility rules. Stop in and check us out (I am member #115). You'll soon find yourself registering so you can join in the discussions. Next you'll fork over you membership fee for access to the SECRET ROOMS. Woooo-oooo!

Scotweb is where I purchased my first kilt, an d8-yard Balmoral model.  Dr. Nick Fiddes, the owner, requires all Scotweb products to be high value for the price, and this kilt was no exception.  Online purchasing is smooth and customer service first class.  If you can wait for your goods to come by mail, you'll likely avoid a big customs fee from FEDEX or UPS.  Otherwise, not so much.

Hamilton Dry Goods  (for kilt hose). HDG caters to reenactors, but you can't beat the price/quality ratio for the kilt hose ($8 buck for crying out loud), a heavy durable and attractive cotton alternative to expensive wool.  Call for color selections as the website only shows two.

Albanach.org  is Matt Newsome's personal website. Matt is a Fellow if the Society of Antiquaries (Scotland), the curator of theScottish Tartans Museum in Franklin NC, and a kiltmaker of great accomplishment who specializes in 4-yard box-pleat kilts. The box-pleated kilt is the original tailored kilt, pre-dating the more widely known knife-pleated kilt, and is a very comfortable and attractive alternative thereto. I have 2 box-pleated kilts and they ARE more comfortable to wear than the 8-yard "Tank". Matt's site is a HUGE resource to anyone interested in kilts, kilt or tartan history, or why these things are the way they are.
